Today’s ruling at a glance

I made q uick stop into ALDO to glance and see if per chance they might have something cute…to my surprise they did, three fold.  I got some really cool paisly/spanish embroidery inspired boots, some really comfy casual leather shoes and last but not least some bad ass boots that have been enveloped by buckles….YUM’OH.

I think I did pretty well, I usually never find anything I like at ALDO.

And these I’ll have to snag next stop…

Rihanna is slowly trying to put that whole incident behind her.

The Umbrella singer has been seen lately going out- a lot – to restaurants and clubs. Without Chris Beat Her Down, thankfully.

Just yesterday, Wednesday, Rihanna was spotted at Les Deux in Hollywood.

It’s nice to see she wasn’t hiding behind a pair of oversized sunglasses. We’re guessing all the bruises and cuts have finally healed?

Now it’s time to work on healing her heart!

Let’s hope she’s just catching up with friends…

It’s no coincidence that Rihanna and Chris Brown are on opposite coasts right now.

According to a source close to the couple, they have been ”taking a break.”

The source tells E! News that the pair are not calling it a formal breakup, but have decided to put some distance between them. We are told they plan to see each other soon.

Reps for both singers have not returned calls seeking comment on the break.

Last Thursday, Rihanna flew to New York City, where she, Brandy, Beyoncé and Jay-Z reportedly enjoyed a quiet dinner together at the Spotted Pig Friday night. Then on Saturday night, she dined with friends at Da Silvano.

Meanwhile, Brown has remained in Los Angeles. Sources tell E! News that the “Kiss Kiss” singer has spent the entire time working on his album, most recently at the Record Plant in Hollywood.

“He’s just putting ideas down for some songs he wrote,” says a Brown source. “He needs to feel like he’s moving forward.”

I recently submitted photos to Traque Management for representation and I recieved word late last week that they want to meet with me at the 27th of March to sign with the agency!

I’m so excited, this is something I’ve worked very hard for and I will continue to work hard.  Just another baby step down the road to success.

Apparently, some people believe that being homosexual is a “lifestyle choice.” It is simply a matter of how one chooses to live–like buying a home on the beach or driving a hybrid car or cutting dairy out of one’s diet. I don’t understand where they got the idea that there is actually a choice when it comes to one’s sexuality. Have they bought into the theory that we are all born bisexual and based on how we are socialized and the nature of our relationship with our mothers, we veer in one direction over the other? I wonder if each of these proponents of “the lifestyle choice theory” woke up one day at a crossroads, where they were given the equally appealing options to choose a heterosexual lifestyle or a homosexual lifestyle… and then, by the grace of God, they just so happened to check the box next to “heterosexual.” I imagine they see life as a test–and sexuality as a multiple choice question disguised as an open-answered question, which in reality only has one correct answer… Or like Neo, they were offered a red and a blue pill. And they just happened to choose which ever one wasn’t gay…

Well guess what? For some reason, I was never presented with a choice regarding my sexuality or the option to pick with whom I would grow up to fall in love. And neither was anyone I know. The only choice any of us were given was the choice to LIVE HONESTLY or to LIE.

Certain so-called Christians and Republicans like Mr. Huckabee (see below, thank you Ms Yun) seem to want those of us who were born sexually attracted to people of the same gender to lie about it. They would prefer for preachers to continue being arrested for paying male prostitutes and soliciting for sex in public restrooms (http://www.badmouth.net/top-five-republican-gay-sex-scandals/) than to just allow these men to live honestly with supportive families and loved ones.

Certain black folks would prefer to have black gays and lesbians grow up in complete denial and fear rather than welcome their proud, responsible, talented black children home to the families into which they were born. They would rather their black son engage in unsafe sex with partners he doesn’t trust because he is too ashamed of the act to take responsibility for it, and then turn around and bring HIV/AIDS into the community by having unsafe sex with his wife/girlfriend (as wearing a condom with her would be an admission of “guilt.”) They would rather their lesbian daughter move away from her hometown forever to be with the people who understand her and grow up with no connection to her roots and her family’s culture. They would rather ostracize and alienate their own children than to figure out a way to TEACH those who haven’t been blessed with a gay family member just how easy it is to love a gay person. (Look how lovable I am!?!)

As most of you know, my mother and her family are extremely EVOLVED around these issues. My mother and I were talking last weekend and the issue of… believe it or not… you’ll never guess… wait for it… GAY MARRIAGE came up. We had gotten into the issue of “lifestyle” and she stopped the conversation. “I don’t even like using that term in the context of this discussion, because it’s not a question of lifestyle.” (I’m totally paraphrasing the rest of this, mom, so feel free to chime in with exactly what you said when you read this.) “You and [your heterosexual brother] don’t have such different lifestyles. You both pay taxes, drive your cars to the grocery store, go to movies on Friday nights. The main difference with regard to the issue of marriage is who you happen to love. I prefer to call it a question of LOVE-STYLE. The only difference is who you happen to love and the subtle differences in the bedroom.” LOVE-STYLE! Is my mother brilliant or what?

So, let’s stop talking about gay folks as if they are living these totally foreign lives. Gay does not equal space alien. Gays don’t eat through their armpits or sacrifice bunny rabbits for lunch. Our lives are just as boring and everyday as yours. The only significant difference is that we have an extra layer of consciousness because we have had to maintain our own truth along with the burden of what society wants us to believe. We have had to summon strength from within ourselves that you have never had to imagine because we know that lying about who we love is not acceptable.

LOVE IS NOT A SIN.

Last night, John Stewart asked Mike Huckabee some key questions regarding the notion of “lifestyle choice” when it applies to the rights of American citizens to marry. As is always the case with these discussions, when Stewart breaks the issue down to points of LOGIC, the ‘not a homophobe’ but clearly anti-gay Huckabee “agrees to disagree.”
